Manually Move 1998 Toyota Avalon Driver Side Electric Car Seat

Jan 02, 2012 the power seat (driver's) in my 1998 Avalon is stuck in partially reclined position. It still works through a narrow range (fully reclined to half reclined), but won't come back up to upright. The front passenger seat as working fine until a couple of weeks ago when my daughter
went to change the seat position, it locked in a reclining (not fully) position and we can't
move it at all. This is a manual seat, not power.

There are two levers on the side...and you are using the smaller one rear of the bigger lever, right? The big one is seat bottom height and the smaller one reclines the back..just in case you didn't know already...try sitting in seat and lean back and put a little weight on the seat back and pull the smaller, rear lever up and lean back and off and wiggle the lever up and down, and have somebody push the back up, all at the same time maybe whatever is keeping it from sitting upright will release. Take a good look under the seat for anything that may have gotten under and is sticking up in to the mechanism. If all that does not work the seat may have to be taken out to see if the latch from the lever has broken or become unattached.

Thank you, I feel really dumb, she hasn't had the car very long and as you asked, we were pulling on the large bottom height lever instead of the smaller one, seat works fine.

Where can I take this to have it fixed? I'm having the same problem and it's all the way recline. Will come up but the moment you sit in the seat it goes back again.

Holy crap DavidH25, thanks! I didn't even realize there was a second lever! When I've sat in the seat, I've always pulled the correct one instinctively... but just now I was trying to get it to recline while outside the car, and it wasn't working. I thought it broke. XDNice to know now I have that extra for height-adjustment.

Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2003 Toyota Camry 2

The driver's seat which is adjusted using buttons on the side of the sea became stuck all the way forward 3 times, making it impossible for my husband to drive. The Toyota service department removed the seat, and found shards of plastic in the track. They suggested that I refrain from moving the seat all the way forward, which is tricky when you are 5' 1' tall.

Front Seat Power Adjust problem of the 2000 Toyota Camry 3

I had a 2000 Toyota Camry. My wife was driving it and she is the only one in the car. 1) she stopped at highway, since all cars in front of her stopped. 2) a 98 Nissan hit her car from behind around 50-60 miles/h. My wife's car hit the car in front of her, and the car in front of her car hit another car. 3)even the front section of my wife's was serious damaged, non of the four airbag deployed. This one is not my complaint here, just provided as a reference information. 4)the driver's seat became flat (been damaged by my wife's body, and she is only around 130 lbs) right after the impact, and no more support for the body, (at this situation, seat belt does not help at all), and she slipped out of the seat, and her head hit somewhere inside the car. She got serious concusion. 5) I only saw Toyota tested front impact, side impact, did not see any rear impact. The driver's seat is supposed to support the body at the time, and it failed to stay, and let the body slip out of it, with seat belt only hook the legs. 6) the strength of the driver seat (power seat) needs to be evaluated, and I want an answer from Toyota. 4).
